Epic Games Store Users Face Massive Login Issues Amid Fortnite Downtime
Epic Games Store users encountered widespread login problems on Saturday, with thousands reporting that they were unable to access their accounts.
Outage monitoring website Downdetector recorded over 4,000 reports of problems at the time. The disruption occurred around the same time Fortnite servers were intentionally taken offline for scheduled maintenance ahead of the highly awaited Fortnite x The Simpsons mini-season event.
The situation quickly sparked frustration across social media and gaming forums.
On Downdetector, one player complained, “Bruh, the Epic Games launcher isn’t working on PC.” Another said, “I tried installing a game and got ‘An unknown error occurred performing that action. Please try again.’”
Some users were harsher in their criticism, with one remarking they were “real sick” of Epic’s service issues.
Social Media Reactions
On X (formerly Twitter), players echoed similar problems. One post read: “The entire Epic Games Store Launcher is down…” Another user commented, “I can’t even log in to my Epic Games Store right now.”
One player claimed, “It kicked me out of my entire account and I can’t log back in,” while another joked, “Even Epic Games’ servers couldn’t handle the new Simpsons season.”
Epic Games Responds
Epic Games addressed the situation on its official status page, confirming they are aware of the login failures.
The message states:
“We are aware that players are currently experiencing issues when trying to log in. Please visit the Epic Games Status page for the most up-to-date information.”
The platform is currently listed as experiencing a “partial service outage.”
Fortnite Maintenance and Downtime
Fortnite servers were intentionally taken offline earlier for routine maintenance following the “Welcome, Our Alien Overlords” live event.
Epic confirmed on X that downtime began at 11:30 a.m. ET on November 1 and was estimated to last roughly five hours.
Servers were initially expected to come back online by 4 p.m. ET. However, because of the broader login issues affecting the Epic Games Store, some players may face additional delays once Fortnite becomes available again.
