Bills vs Chiefs: In a hard-fought matchup at Highmark Stadium, the Buffalo Bills edged out the Kansas City Chiefs 28-21 in a game where defense and timely execution made the difference.
Buffalo jumped out fast, scoring on their opening possession when quarterback Josh Allen connected with his tight-end for a 23-yard touchdown to make it 7-0. Later in the first half, Allen orchestrated another drive, targeting his receivers and running back to punch in a one-yard rushing touchdown, putting his team ahead and setting the tone early.
Kansas City responded in the second quarter with a field goal, narrowing the gap. But Buffalo answered back, using a creative play involving a direct snap and well-executed blocking to move down the field, and an 8-yard rushing touchdown restored their momentum heading into the half. At that point the Bills carried a 21-13 lead.
In the third quarter, Buffalo’s defensive front made the difference. They applied heavy pressure on Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes, with an especially disruptive sequence that included a tipped pass, a combined sack, and forced punt. Kansas City was blanked in that quarter and couldn’t find an offensive rhythm.
Late in the fourth quarter, with Kansas City mounting a comeback attempt, Buffalo’s young cornerback Maxwell Hairston — in only his second career game — jumped a pass and intercepted Mahomes, shutting down one final drive. Shortly afterwards, safety Cole Bishop broke up a pass in the end zone on second-and-10 with fewer than 20 seconds left, and Hairston sealed it with another deflection on the last play.
The Chiefs had been threatening to tie or take the lead, but Buffalo’s timely stops underscored the difference. With this win, the Bills improved to 6-2, while Kansas City fell to 5-4. Looking ahead, Buffalo will carry this momentum into their next game and continue riding the confidence of both offensive consistency and defensive swagger.
